Cheryl Velasquez
CEO/Executive Director
Cheryl Velasquez, CEO of NPA, has dedicated her life and over 45 years of professional service to helping individuals overcome addiction and reclaim their lives. Her profound understanding of the recovery journey is built on a diverse, hands-on career spanning almost every facet of the substance uses disorder (SUD) field. Before joining NPA, Cheryl gained critical, multi-dimensional experience working directly within recovery homes, serving with the Department of Corrections, and successfully operating her own methadone clinic. This unique combination of clinical care, criminal justice insight, and administrative ownership laid the groundwork for her deep expertise in regulatory compliance and patient-first advocacy.
Her subsequent journey at NPA stands as a powerful testament to this dedication, versatility, and leadership. She first joined the organization as an SUD Counselor, working directly on the frontlines of patient recovery. Recognizing her operational strengths, she transitioned to Front Office Manager and later stepped into a pivotal dual role covering Administration and Human Resources. Through her decades of institutional knowledge, unwavering work ethic, and comprehensive understanding of NPA's daily operations, Cheryl rose to become the Chief Executive Officer. Today, she utilizes her full spectrum of experience—from frontline counseling to executive administration—to lead NPA with empathy, operational excellence, and a deep commitment to the communities they serve.
